So last fall I decided to put Elvis in gymnastics. He didn’t particularly care for soccer when he did that, (I think he was the only coach’s kid to ask to sit on the sideline….every single game…) and to be honest, he isn’t a “team” sport kind of kid. Anyways, he loved gymnastics and in fact, after only 9 months, has a 6 pack. (This momma may be slightly jealous…..just a bit.) After about 3 months of Tiki watching and getting upset that he couldn’t go in and do what his big brother was doing, I ended up signing him up for a class too.
They both seem to love it, and I was asked on a near daily basis when we were going to “nastics.” (I love 3 year old speak.) At the end of the school year, they had a recital. I was able to video tape Tiki’s routine (minus the initial somersault) and I absolutely LOVE it! A little back story to his lessons: He spent most of his class periods doing his own thing…. Somehow he was able to pick up enough to know what he was supposed to do. I don’t know how, but he did. Also, his teacher is a saint. There is no other way she could have survived the 5 months of Tiki doing what Tiki does. (For those of you that don’t know him, he has his own idea of what should happen. Mainly, if he doesn’t think it should apply to him, he ignores it. Quite effectively…. Especially the word “No.”)
Without further ado, here’s the clip. Enjoy!
Please note the wet-finger inspection before he could continue…. this was VERY important and vital to his routine….
P.S. While I did get video of Elvis, his age group/class did more of a traditional “move from event to event” style typical of gymnastic events. So there’s no flow…. so it’s not as much fun… But he did great too!
